Suddenly, but don't you think that the feeling of "nostalgia" is painful?
I think so. For example, when I see the old type of Windows
that my mother used when I was a child,
mainly from the 80s and 90s, I feel a painful nostalgia that overwhelms me, and I can't stop crying.
It feels like my heart is being crushed by the sensation of being pulled back into the world of my childhood.
However, while this is pleasant,
it also feels like every cell in my body,
including my heart, is being torn apart from all directions,
and for me, it is very painful.
However, the old computers, appliances, and game consoles
used in my home when I was a child were made in the 1990s,
when my parents were young.
Getting to the main point, since the World Wide Web was born in 1991,
digital technology, including the internet, has developed at the speed of light,
to the point where the internet has become a second living space.
Among these developments,
there is a day that is the most important to me in the world: the day my beloved Windows 98 was born.
Windows 98 was released on 25 June 1998.
Microsoft Windows itself has existed since 1985,
as far as I can remember, but my favourite "Windows 98" was born in 1998.Unfortunately,
I no longer have Windows 98 at home,
but there are still some elements from the 98 era that remain in the Windows 10 I have at home.
Some icons have remained unchanged since the old days, and upon closer inspection, some system UI
and layouts have also remained unchanged since the 98 era.
The way it occasionally inherits the characteristics of Windows 98
and occasionally evokes the glory days of its ancestors is simply adorable.
I plan to eventually bring Windows 98, which was once loved worldwide and accompanied people through the dawn of the internet, into this home.
